Issues to be Discussed


 West Hollywood:

  1. Inclusionary Housing: is the City of West Hollywood enforcing inclusionary housing and are you a proponent of inclusionary housing  
  2. Rent Control and Vacancy de Control: what is your position on rent control and vacancy de control; do you support the Costa Hawkins law? 
  3. Rent Grants: are there any proposed programs for tenants to apply for rent grants to pay landlords in the City of West Hollywood? 
  4. Moratorium on evictions: how have you seen the moratorium on evictions in the City of West Hollywood affecting the rental housing? 


Culver City:

  1. Interim or permanent rent control: shall the measure requiring voter approval of any ordinance establishing interim or permanent rent control or prohibition on residential rent increases in the City of Culver City, including any ordinance establishing rent control adopted by the Culver City City Council after January 2, 2019, be adopted?
  2. Increase the one time 0.45% tax on real property sales: shall the measure to increase the one time 0.45% tax on real property sales, adding 1.5% on amounts from $1,500,000 to $2,999,999, 3% on amounts from $3,000,000 to $9,999,999 and 4% on amounts $10,000,000 and above, except for sales under $1,500,000, affordable housing and first transfer of new multi family properties, be adopted? 


Santa Monica:

  1. Equity based hiring: shall the City Charter be amended to repeal provisions setting rules for appointing candidates and promoting employees into the Civil Service, to enable the City Council to advance equity based hiring?
  2. One time real estate transfer tax: shall the City of Santa Monica increase the one-time real estate transfer tax paid on each sale of property for $5 million or more by $3.00 per $1,000 of sales price, exempting affording housing projects, providing a $3 million annually for local services?


Propositions:

  1. 21: local rent control initiative: are you for or against Proposition 21 on the November 3rd ballot and why?
  2. 19: property tax transfer, exemptions and revenue for wildlife agencies and counties: are you for or against Proposition 19 on the November 3rd ballot and why?
  3. 15: tax on commercial and industrial properties for education and government funding: are you for or against Proposition 15 on the November 3rd ballot and why?
