C.A.R. Spring/Sacramento Dining Suggestions
Updated 4/27/2024
Voted one of the best restaurants in town. Owned by the folks behind Zinfandel Grille, it serves modern American fare with
Italian and French influences and a farm-to-fork bent. Not to mention a fabulous view of the Capitol.

**Open for Dinner TUE-SUN
OK, it's unfortunate they're closed on Mondays, but if your Wednesday schedule allows this is the place to go for an eye-rolling delish dinner at one of the the best farm-to-fork, seasonally inventive haunts around. It's only a few blocks away, so you can also squeeze in a lovely walk, which you'll need to burn off the must-have avocado chocolate mousse.
They also have some fantastic vegan options.
Honestly, the best plan is to go with a group, order the left half of the menu and lazy susan the plates until you can't eat another bite. Start with the Saffron Risotto Balls, shimmy over to the Roasted Carrots with Sumac Yogurt, dive into the Beet Panzanella Salad then coast on to the Salmon Avocado Toast with Roasted Sunchokes. See? I've done all the ordering for you. You're welcome.
Worth the walk just to see the grand beauty of this beloved boutique hotel (The CITIZEN) but you'll stay for the lively bar and lounge scene.
THE RIND - 1801 L Street
Nirvana for those who think there should be a food group just for cheese. (Or is that just me?) Happy hour daily from 3:00pm-6:00pm with wine pairings. Try the roasted brussel spouts with onion-bacon jam, the cheesy potatoes with bechamel cream sauce or blood orange chevre. It will save you from having to choose (if you can) between mind-blowing grilled cheese sandwiches OR the mac n' cheese melange. Comfort food delights dressed up for cocktails.
Just blocks from the Capitol, they have been Sacramento's premier fine dining destination for 60 years.
A beloved Downtown Sacramento haunt of premier dining. New American, featuring entrees of seafood, steaks, pasta, small plates, salads, fresh oysters and traditional caviar service. YES, you should have already made your reservations by now, but you'll learn. At least find yourself a perch at the bar and enjoy one of Randall's finest institutions.
Set in a historic 1893 firehouse, with its original brick walls and soaring ceilings, this family-owned Farm-to-Fork favorite is famous for eclectic culinary creations. The menu changes daily in step with the local growing seasons.
